The tradition you choose determines how the sky is divided into houses, and therefore which planets govern which areas of your life. Placidus and Whole Sign share the same planetary positions but carve those houses by different methods, producing charts that can differ significantly. Vedic astrology uses a separate star-anchored zodiac that shifts most placements by nearly a full sign, and is a distinct tradition with its own interpretive language.
